Omega2 stuck in factory reset loop after reboot



  • @Chris-Morgan Maybe. Your log file is not fully clear for me. Please be patient - forget the keyboard during boot - and show us a "clear" log file with that loop.
    Please try to do what I wrote. I think you will not lose anything.



  • @György-Farkas ok. I’ll repost the console output after the factory reset. Because it keeps factory resetting I don’t have any configuration on the device so no worries on my part about losing data now but it is concerning that this occurred.



  • @György-Farkas alright I ran through the reset via the button, reconfigured the module wifi, it was on my wifi network and I and was able to, after setting the timezone manually on the omega2 (is this a known bug? until I set the timezone I'm not able to connect from cloud to device...), able to connect from the cloud to the device.

    BUT after rebooting from the terminal the module is back to its initial state again, console log below ends right before the console reboot, next post will contain the remainder (discourse limit here is 32k so can't post the whole log in one post):

  • Hi @György-Farkas.

    Agreed that I didn't wait until the system messages stopped in all cases. Some show up 30 seconds after another. It seemed odd that you'd have to wait given that the console is typically unavailable during critical system startup. In any case I can appreciate that it could make a difference and re-ran the commands and the same issue occurs. The module's configuration is lost upon reboot, entirely blank. It's like the flash partitions are messed up or the environment has a stuck flag that causes factory reset each time the module boots.

    My location is near Budapest (the capital of Hungary, Central Europe):
    onion time list | grep Budapest

    OK it's in the list:
    onion time set $(onion time list | grep Budapest)

    date
    Fri Sep 21 22:47:30 CEST 2018

    Sorry I don't use Onion's web based stuff at all and don't know what is the situation with the Onion's cloud now.

  • What the heck... I would have upgraded the firmware sooner but this is what the web console reported:

    Let me upgrade as you've recommended and see if the behavior changes.



  • @György-Farkas alright, after the upgrade to 0.2.x content and configuration is persisting across power cycles. Thank you for your help. It's too bad the UI told me that the old version I had was the latest version. If it had prompted me to upgrade I wouldn't have had any of these issues!

    Now the new web interface is missing the "Settings" app. Trying to figure out what package that is contained in so I can install/reinstall that!
