Ok, I had a chat with my father, who is an old engineer and used to work in BT in the 50's, he told me of a trick they had back then. Apparently they let the relay weld and would "unstick" it, and do this a few times. He claims this would even out the surface and create a bigger surface of contact so less micro-welding.
Odd no?
Well, I tried this, and after 5 or 6 times the relays no longer locked!

It isn't. Its just a convenience. You can definitely compile on your machine. Its just easier on the cloud.
I personally use python. Fast enough for my needs, and much easier to deal with.

Thanks. The dust will be removed. The case is a plastic case I bought specifically for storing the omega and the other bits and bobs. I used silicone to stick the Omega to the plastic case. Either way. Thats 3 relays that don't work. I wonder if perhaps I got a bad batch. I bought another 10 today so I hope that these will not have problems. I will test with another 2 relay expansions I have today. See what happens.

Wondering if anyone has encountered this behaviour.
I have 5 GPIO pins connected to several inputs. Most of the times these pins are closed (high). Whenever the onion has already booted things work as expected, but if there is a power loss there seems to be no way for the onion to boot. What happens is that the led lights up and then keeps blinking, as if there were some sort of boot loop, but its so quick it does nothing at all.
I think that it might be the 5 GPIO pins are taking too much power from the onion on boot. I have them connected the following way:
All 5 with a 10K resistor to ground and then to the same 2.5 V pin on the dock.
I also (worth mentioning) have 3 relay expansions stacked on the onion. It boots without problems until I connect the GPIO header.
Could the power here be an issue?

The way OpenWRT works is, and please correct me if I am wrong, it uses a "base image" and then it overlays the user files on top of that image. So if the files in /www/apps are part of the base image deleting them could loose you more space since the overlay has to remember that these have been deleted.
Looks like these files are part of the "base image" so they can't be removed.
df -T /www/apps/onion-app-template/app.json
Will tell you they are part of the squashfs (compressed disk image) mounted on /rom.
So looks like, unless you want to compile your own onion image, you can't remove them.
Ok, here is a command that will get the relay state of a block, however it is rather hacky.
In case anyone wants to use:
i2cdump -y i2c-gpio0 0x23 i|grep 00:|awk '{print $11}'
Will give you a decimal of the binary representation of the relay.
Ok, thanks! Seems as if you are correct! I am now using the following 3 gpio's: 2, 3, 18. Seems to be the combination that works for me. Would be nice if we could get some sort of definitive doc that might let us know whats up. Would also be nice if the docs were consistent.
This (https://docs.onion.io/omega2-docs/expansion-dock.html) shows one thing, but the GPIO app on the onion console does not even have 11 there at all! Why?

I have 3 gpio pins and 3 relay modules connected to the omega 2+.
However when these are connected the 2+ does not boot. Is there some trick? Some GPIO pin's I should not be using?
I am using pins 6, 8, 9 (according to new docs for Omega 2+). Still using omega 1 dock, is this a problem? I thought they were the same. Pins 8, 6, high on boot most times.
I should also note that the exact same setup (different gpio pins) worked for a long time with an omega 1. If I use the omega 1 it boots (gpios don't work but that is to be expected) without issue.

It should also be noted that mixing both is great as well. For example:
opkg find python-* | grep ssl
Will find all python packages that contain the characters "ssl"

I have written a small script to integrate gpios and relays into home assistant as restful sensors and restful switches while trying to keep the number of packages required to install to a minimum.
I am thinking of a way to integrate the OLED into home assistant, but don't really know what I might use it for with HA. Any suggestions would be welcome.

My system is completely autonomous. I use python sockets to do this. However, I would like to add my openwrt router to the onion cloud and not relay messages to it. Think this is possible?

I have several Onions in my house now doing many things. I wanted to do some sort of distributed control setup but things are getting a little difficult to manage.
I am now implementing a central control in my OpenWRT router. I am using one of the omegas to relay commands from the internet (Onion Cloud) to the router via sockets.
I have thought of several alternatives, pagekite, etc..., however the Onion Cloud seems to be the best thing I can think of right now. Can I add my OpenWRT router to the Onion Cloud? Is this allowed? I have 3 (soon to be 5) devices in my house connected to the Onion Cloud. I would much rather connect 1 (my OpenWRT router) to the cloud and manage the Onions through that. Is it at all possible? (the answer to this is probably yes, but the real question is...) Is it allowed?
