the arduino dock works for first time setup. it is basically a software routine that happens when power is applied to the module the first time. but, br sure to read the documentation carefully when it ccmes time to set up the arduino dock. that will require a specific set of software and i think it was even updated once after the original so read up on the arduino dock before you set it up.

RE: [SOLVED] Setting up using Arduino DOCK
@Martin-Zwigl there is particle electron. has both 2g and 3g models. although my 2g unit has, it seems, in my neighborhood become a thing of the past. anyway, particle electron is well made device with decent capabilities. not too expensive, i think it was about $60 for 3g.
RE: About U-Boot bootloader
i see it as what has been released to date do not provide for wifi but that they expect the wifi driver to be complete in at most 40 days. i would not consider the S module useless in that it gives dev/manufacturers ~40 days to physically work with the module ahead of the wifi release. i view the news and actions a positive, as long as the driver code is ready as stated. the developments, if sincere, are a step in the right direction
RE: gps receiver not locking
i attached a small indoor antenna, about 3 times the size of the factory one and am able to get a fix which i was not able to do with the factory setup. if the explanation of onion is to be accepted it seems the cap in question dampens the signal to the unit and thus either a better antenna to increase signal or removing the cap to increase signal. the unit pretty much pinpoints exactly where it is, per my experience, once it gets adequate signal.
edit: i wanted to mention that the antenna i'm using in replacing the factory unit is one off this gps shield board i got a while back. https://www.makerfabs.com/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=133&search=gps+shield
i think you can pick up one like this for ~$3.
RE: New Omega2 basic shield, Power/FTDI/I2C and SPI
i placed order for the 2 sets. it seems it will be several weeks til they arrive, i already placed an order for the female headers 2mm pitch 16pin. it would be great to see a suggested list of the other components like the caps and resistorsw, maybe a regulator, or even better a completed unit.
RE: [resolved] Help, My Omega2 plus can't start successfully
@Zheng-Han that's good news. Roughly how long will it be before crowdfunding is finished?
reading the updates on both kickstarter & indiegogo it's going to be a month or better.
