If I'm not mistaken EVERY time an expansion dock has failed the smoke test it was connected to a PC USB port.

With the next batch kickstarter/indiegogo users coming I forsee a lot of can't connect/wifi/power topics, this can be a (help) topic for user facing power problems.
When I received my Omega2+ I had the problem that after 20 seconds the led went out.
I used the recommended lm1117, breadboard and wires as power supply.
After some advice on this forum, i shortened the wires from 20cm to about 5 cm each and I added a 470uF 16v Capacitor.
I finally saw the Wifi Acces point in windows so i:

Connected to Omega-xxxx (default password 12345678)
Went to 192.168.3.1 and run the setup wizard.
After setup, i did a browser refresh and immediately updated the firmware in the settings panel.

Strange behavior. DOA?

Alright, guys thanks for the fast feedback.
I hope people with this problem will check their power supply first and get their Omega running.
Happy Inventing

Hence , I decided to power it off.
When I decided to power it on again , it does not power on.
I checked the expansion docks power pins using an arduino , it works well.
I will appreciate any ideas.
Thank you

It is switched on by the system only when the ethernet port has to be active, and is off otherwise to save power.
On the Omega expansion dock schematics, this signal is accordingly named NET_POW.
You can see how it is used in the ethernet expansion shield schematics.
As we don't have the schematics of the Omega2 yet, I can't be sure - but from the datasheet of the MT7688 I would assume that Vout is connected to pin AVDD33_TX_P0.
So not seeing any voltage present on Vout is not necessarily a sign of the Omega not working, but just that it has not (yet) switched on the ethernet.
The case of @ccs-hello seems different, it appears his Omega2 actually has a part missing, so Vout is not connected physically to anything. Most likely, a ethernet expansion would not work correctly with his Omega2.
