@Jackdaw - apologize for the really really late reply; I'm reviewing my own posts as found myself in the same situation again - that of changing the default ssh port.
And I'm sure you're correct; however, for an ordinary user, just reading the official documentation about hot to connect via ssh, dropping 2 more lines to cover that . . . I'm just saying . . . could save a lot of precious time; I'll try asking chatGPT also to see if it can figure it out . . .

yes Gyorgy, you are completely correct; I did changed the sources on the /etc/opkg/distfeeds.conf by uncommenting the ones related with lede-project; however, I did this via ssh terminal on the phone and actually missed exactly the mipsel_24kc/packages
As a result, the attempt of trying to install etherwake package failed.
my next option was to enable all sources from the config file, just to be sure . . . .in the meantime I was also seeing your post and the proof that etherwake package can be installed.

Now, etherwake was installed only to find out that the actual command is not working . . . .;
It took me about 1-2 hours to figure out that this package seems to work only on the RJ45 connected port , which is not the case because I only have omega2+ and the PowerDock installed on the location so without a LAN connection;

Just by guessing and hoping that lede project will have similar packages implemented I've done:
opkg update
opkg install wakeonlan

downloading packages and aftel install I was able to use:
wakeonlan xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx

(aka the MAC address) and the LAN PC was started via Wi-Fi, without the need of having a cable connected to the device.

PS: of course, that will be an issue when some power brakes are going to be experienced by the router and the Wi-Fi connection will be messed up so for just in case I'm going to have the Ethernet expansion dock on my future setup.

However, maybe I didn't explained my issue well enough.
I have several machines on my LAN; I want to use omega2+ as an "always on machine" from which to send different commands to other computers; one of the most useful is wake on lan.
As checked on the LEDE webpage this Linux OS has at least 2 packages implemented for this job - etherwake and luci-i18n-wol; what I do not get is why they are not available in the repositories of onion.
Or maybe they are available and it is only me I cannot run/install them ?

Sorry is there a known package to install on the omega2+ in order to perform the wake on lan package transmit ?

Yes, I did.
I doesn't work. Every time I access the web interface I select the webcam app, is telling me to install the app, after that the interface is refreshing, I login again click the webcam app and the process goes like this all the time.
As explained by ccs hello above, it seems that a "proper" webcam should be used ( UVC - usb video class - aka products which supposed to work plug-and-play in most of the knows OS ( Windows / Linux / MAC ).

but also, seeking support on the LEDE channel I found out that they have a support for gspca-0v534 (which is related to PS3 webcam).
Unfortunately, the install packages works only for LEDE kernel and those packages are not rewritten for omega2.
Again, maybe a list of "working by default" usb webcams for onion omega should be kept somewhere . . .

I found a post from 2015 of an user which was suggested to "start" a list of unsupported webcam; he listed Sony PS3 camera as "not working" with onion omega;
I guess from omega to omega2+ there is no progress.

Hi all, I am using Omega2+ with PowerDock (the one which also allows battery management - defined as Power Dock in the official documentation);

I've tried connecting an USB webcam to onion omega2+; webcam is Sony from the PS3 kit.
even if, according with the info I've found (https://onion.io/streaming-video-over-wifi/) official it seems to be flawless, it doesn-t work. launching /etc/init.d/mjpeg-streamer start gives me the error:
bolded textdevice ' /dev/video0 ' does not exist;
tried a simple command: lsusb gives:
-ash: lsusb: not found
cd /tmp/mounts and ls gives nothing.

What else can I try ?
I've checked the USB port by inserting an USB stick, I was able to mount-it and read/write on it, so the communication is working.
I've also tested an old webcam Microsoft 1000vx, but the result is the same - no image ....no connection to the cam.

Back to the future 2017 !!!
How come I didn't found this info via google ? I had to find the same answer via LEDE support IRC channel.
