Ethernet Expansion Onion 2
-
Hi,
is it possible to know what happens when Ethernet Expansion Onion 2 is used Does the Onion 2 wifi module will emit visible on wifi network or stopped?
https://docs.onion.io/omega2-docs/using-ethernet-expansion.html#using-ethernet-expansion
Is it possible to stop to emit it when ethernet expansion is used?
Regards,
Steph

Interesting question... Do you have the Omega2 now? If so could you list the content of your /dev directory?
The doc says that 2 virtual interfaces are used for the WiFi, but the devices name are not (yet) mentioned. The Ethernet Expansion uses the eth0 interface. So, if the WiFi interfaces have a different name, they all can work simultaneously.
Is it possible to stop to emit it when ethernet expansion is used?
It's possible to stop WiFi from the configuration file. I personally intend to do that myself. There are possibly other ways that would not require a reboot (or the Internet service restart), but I have no idea at this time.

From the doc... one of the WiFi interfaces is wlan0. That's great! What that means is that Ethernet wire, WiFi Access Point and WiFi WAN can all work together. Wow!!! Powerful router capabilities!

No I do not have a board yet.
I will try to stop wifi to have only ethernet for my needs. If someone has a feedback it could be interesting to know.

The doc says that you can disable WiFi and WiFi Access Point independently from the web console. Very easy!
https://docs.onion.io/omega2-docs/connecting-to-wifi-using-console.html
https://docs.onion.io/omega2-docs/adjusting-omega-ap-network-using-console.htmlCase solved!
