@Filipe-Madureira Yes, as expected. Onion's Ethernet Expansion provides only wired 10/100 network connectivity via a standard Ethernet cable.
Power over Ethernet
Power over Ethernet or PoE describes any of several standard or ad-hoc systems which pass electric power along with data on twisted pair Ethernet cabling. This allows a single cable to provide both data connection and electric power to devices...
Here you are an example Omega PoE Dock
I think this dock is too compact, too complicated, too expensive.
If I remember well @luz has made a nice custom dock with (P)PoE capabilities - with an appropriate Ethernet jack and some ~5 .. 39V to 3.3V (or 5V) voltage converter. Unfortunetely I can't find this post.
It is now working fine for me, and ethernet is getting IP by dhcp.
But I also need a static ip on ethernet, so if in any case, dhcp is not working, it should be having the static ip.
I tried to create one more connection name as 'eth1' with interface as 'wan' as below:
config interface 'wan'
option ifname 'eth1'
option proto 'static'
option ipaddr '192.168.0.233'
option netmask '255.255.255.0'
option ip6assign '60'
But it is not working and one more interface 'eth1' is not being created. I tried with using interface as 'lan', it is also not working. Can anybody tell me how it can be done.
Again, my requirement is to have a static ip on ethernet, in case dhcp is not working.
@Shashi-Alabur Since you can connect via SSH, if you are working in Windows then take a look at WinSCP, Onion has good instructions here. WinSCP enables you to use your familiar Windows editor with the Omega's files.
Re the Onion Console not connecting - try using another browser - Chrome or Firefox or try clearing the cache in your browser. If these fail, maybe time to factory-reset or update firmware.
@None-None With little or no knowledge dicided to try verbatim your suggestion.
Started with a FACTORY RESET Omega.
Then checked out the names of the interfaces which would be needed with the brctl command.
Ran the ifconfig -a command and got the following:
