Omega2+ USB to Ethernet Chip LAN9500A
-
Hi :),
would it possible to use the LAN9500A (USB to Ethernet Chip) and connect it directly to the TX+/- and RX +/- of the Omega2+ Pins?http://www.microchip.com/DevelopmentTools/ProductDetails.aspx?PartNO=EVB-LAN9500A-LC
On the Omega2+ is running a Webserver.
I like to connect the Omeag2+ to any Computer via USB and then connect trough my Webbrowser to the Omegas Webserver.Because there is no USB OTG Client on the Omega. I like to know if this would be possible with a USB 2 Ethernet IC.
And also I hope I can connect it without transformers:

for short distances ( within a PCB ) capacitive coupling is possible. See AN120
For longer distances Magnetics is recommended.

re: "transformerless" (skip the magnetics)
Doable, if- you are a good circuit designer
- high tolerance on data transmission errors
- environment (the circuit boards) and the actual wiring itself is properly shielded
Bottom-line: pushing the margin thin, is it worthwhile for a $1 investment?
