Omega 2 not working

Hi,
My onion omega 2 just arrived, and it's not working.
The access point has a password, and onioneer is not the correct password.
The serial terminal just spits out gibberish ascii characters.
Help!
I really really want my omega to work...

Omega's Wifi AP:
SSID: Omega-ABCD where ABCD are the last four alphanumeric characters from the sticker
Password: 12345678

The default serial settings: 115200 Baud, 8N1, (Flow control: none)
