GNU screen not working on macOS

While I'm able to connect my Omega2+ to my MacBook Pro (macOS High Sierra 10.13.4) via USB per the instructions at https://docs.onion.io/omega2-docs/connecting-to-the-omega-terminal.html#connecting-via-serial-mac, all I get is a blank screen with what appears to be a static cursor (see screenshot) after running screen /dev/tty.SLAB_USBtoUART 115200. Typing, clicking, etc. has no effect. I've submitted a support ticket but I was curious if anyone else has experienced this issue?
