Adding Bluetooth Low Energy dongle / installing bluez

  • Is there any information available on how to set up a Bluetooth Low Energy USB dongle on the Omega and install bluez?

  • Hi @Per-Johan-Groland. BLE drivers and documentation will be made available in the next release of the Console in the next couple of weeks.

    Cheers!

  • ETA on BLE drivers? šŸ˜„

  • Hello,

I'm trying to use the BLE dongle but so far I can't see the device.
I have installed bluez-utils and bluez-lib using opkg install, and tried a lot of things like changing the /etc/config/bluetooth file, but whatever I do, when I run

    hcitool scan

I get: "Device is not available: Address family not supported by protocol"

    When I run

    bluetoothd

    nothing seems to happen

    and when I run

    bluetoothctl

I can't write anything in the console anymore and have to ctl C it.

  • I got my Bluetooth dongle today.
Looking forward to official instructions on how it should be used.
Tried installing the bluetooth kernel extensions and am getting errors:

    opkg install kmod-bluetooth_6lowpan
    ...
    Collected errors:
     * satisfy_dependencies_for: Cannot satisfy the following dependencies for kmod-bluetooth_6lowpan:
     *      kernel (= 3.18.20-1-7bed08fa9c06eb8089e82c200340ec66)

I think I need to try using opkg --force-depends install the extension, but i'm no hurry to do it as I don't quite know what to do with Bluetooth once I have it all working. šŸ™‚

    PS: I'm running Ī©-ware: 0.0.5 b234

  • tried running --force-depends and promptly ran out of space as expected. now cleaning up.

  • On this new thread @Lazar-Demin said support might be expected shortly...
I hope it's true I'd really like to use my bluetooth expansion šŸ™‚
