Can't switch off AP mode
-
Hi,
I would like my Onion2+ to only be configured as a client on my WLAN. I thought that I could achieve this by first configuring WI-FI Settings in the web interface (which works) and then switch off AP mode under WI-FI AP Settings by disabling it in the checkbox marked "Enable AP Mode".
However, when I do this, the checkbox is unchecked for a few seconds after which it is checked again.
I realize that the configuration in /etc/config/wireless need to look very different when the Omega doesn't transmit its own network, but I don't know how. I was hoping that just using the web interface would provide the correct config. Since it doesn't, maybe you could give me an example /etc/config/wireless? I guess maybe /etc/config/network needs to look different as well...
Best regards,
Mikael

Hey, witch browser you used? Probably you need it to do it with the chrome browser. A lot of troubles with other browsers.
The search function should bring you up the config files. We had this topic already with the omega1. Seams to be the same as both OS are based on OpenWRT.

@Mikael-Djurfeldt according this (https://docs.onion.io/omega2-docs/adjusting-ap-network-through-command-line.html) you could try to set
option ApCliEnable '1'
tooption ApCliEnable '0'
.

@Luciano-S. I used Chrome 48. I don't think it has anything to do with the browser. I think it's simply not possible to switch off AP mode (and the associated 192.168.3.0 network) through the web browser---for anyone---at least not when wifi is still used to get on another WLAN. If anyone can have AP mode off while being connected via wifi, please tell me!

.I don't understand the logic of this. ApCli is the interface used to connect to the pre-existing WLAN (connect to the "world"). So, disabling that will simply have the effect of only having the AP network (the one transmitted from the Omega---the one I want to switch off).

@Mikael-Djurfeldt , there are issues with some browsers and the web-interface ...at least with omega1 was it so when it came out. And that's why Maksim also gave you the link for manual configuration in the terminal ... the script does the same ... just through the Web-app.
If manually not works check your firmware and bring it up to date. You are not the first one with this problem.

Well, as I write already in my first post above, I know that I, in principle, could solve the problem by changing /etc/config/{wireless,network}. However, my problem is that I don't know how they should look like to get just a simple Wifi client on my WLAN. I could of course experiment after having read the OpenWRT docs, but want to have a solution which both fits the Omega2 hardware well and also doesn't mess up the Omega Console or other Omega specific software. So, I would really appreciate if anyone who has succeeded in just having a simple WLAN client setup could post the config files for this.

please post your firmware version!
