[resolved] Bricked Omega2+ installing firmware 0.1.10-b163; now won't install firmware from USB via Expansion dock
-
I tried to upgrade the firmware on my Omega2+ to 0.1.10-b163, and seem to have bricked it as a result. I have the expansion dock, so I installed the serial drivers on my mac and attempted to reinstall 0.1.10-b160 via a USB drive.
Unfortunately, it keeps giving me the error
CMD_FAT: ** Unable to use usb 0:1 for fatload ** Upgrade F/W from USB storage failed.
.My USB drive is formatted as FAT32 (using disk utility on macOS ) and the firmware file is named
omega2.bin
. Is there something else I'm missing? Is there another approach I can try without needing the Ethernet expansion?Attached PDF shows both the kernel panic (page 6) and the firmware upgrade error (page 9).

RESOLVED: After reading https://community.onion.io/topic/1762/omega2-flash-omega2p-v0-1-10-b162-bin-break, I copied the firmware to a 1 GB flash drive I had in a drawer (instead of the 64 GB one I keep with my computer). It is now going through the restore process as expected.
@Global-Moderators you guys really need to pull firmware builds that are known to cause bricking.
