WM8960 Audio Codec

Hello,
I'm working on a project where I need audio in and out. Rather than putting a USB audio IC on the board, since that latest releases support I2S I'd like to use that. From reading other posts here it appears the WM8960 is supported out-of-the-box by the Onion firmware.Is it really as simple as connecting the I2S pins? Is any particular configuration needed for ALSA to recognize the chip?
