Thank you! Just don't wanna spend money on something that won't work is all so I figured I'd ask the experts here

Airplay Server: USB Audio and auto-start for shairport
Hi Folks,
I would like to convert one of my Omega2s to a Shairport server for music in my kitchen. I've got a speaker with a standard 3.5mm port, so all I need is a USB audio device. I'm following the guide below and I have 2 questions:
https://wiki.onion.io/Projects/How-To-Stream-music-Using-Airplay/1.Installing-ShairportSync-
Since they aren't offered on the store anymore I need a compatible audio device. Would this work ? https://www.amazon.com/Plugable-Headphone-Microphone-Aluminum-Compatibility/dp/B00NMXY2MO

What do I need to do to get shairport to start at boot? Just in case of power outages or whatever, it'd be nice to have the shairport server start at boot so I don't have to ssh in and start it up manually.
Thank you!

RE: Onion Store Power Dock Differences?
@Douglas-Kryder They both look 100% identical physically. From your link:
"What differs Power Dock 2 from the original Power Dock is that it has the Battery Level ADC that allows you to accurately monitor the voltage of your battery. Another update is that GPIOs 18 & 19 are now available on the Expansion Header!"
What does this mean in practical terms? Is the original dock fully compatible with all the expansions (relay, servo, oled, etc.)? will the GPS expansion work?

Onion Store Power Dock Differences?
I would like to purchase a power dock for my omega2+ so I can take one of my projects with me. There are 2 Power Docks on the store, the Power Dock and Power Dock 2. One is $5 cheaper than the other; what is the difference between the two?
Similarly, I would like to pick up an additional Expansion Dock, do I need to worry about any compatibility issues i.e. are there multiple versions of the Expansion Dock as well?

RE: Reset Button not working on Minidock
@dennis-ctp Mark down everything below "below is what i get when power on the device (connected a working omega2+ on minidock, serial, using 115200)" in your post
edit: just trying to be helpful here

RE: Reset Button not working on Minidock
@Luciano-S. I submitted a ticket for my mini dock problem and it has been 11 days since I provided photos of the dock and video of the nonfunctioning reset button. I asked for a status update after a week with no response and still haven't heard back. The help desk isn't exactly being responsive.

RE: Reset Button not working on Minidock
I also have an arduino 2 dock. Both of my Omega2+ units respond to the reset button on that one, neither do on the mini dock. I can bring up the terminal on both units via serial connection when connected to my computer via the mini usb port on the mini dock. I have a 2.4a Anker charger that I've plugged the mini dock into and the reset button doesn't work with either omega2+ unit I have. The reset button on the mini dock simply doesn't work.

RE: Reset Button not working on Minidock
My reset button on my mini dock does not work either. I submitted a ticket with Onion's help desk over a week ago with photos and a video and haven't heard anything back yet. One of the reasons I had ordered the mini dock was to be able to easily unbrick a unit and with the reset button not functioning that functionality is gone.

RE: Omega 2+ USB Firmware Install after Brick. [Resolved]
@Brian-Wharton32 My mini dock also does not recognize the reset button hold. I had to use an arduino dock 2 and a usb-serial adapter to re-flash a bricked unit. I submitted a ticket but havnen't heard back yet. Especially for the mini dock, the usb-serial connection should work as it doesn't do much else compared to the other docks.

RE: Omega 2+ USB Firmware Install after Brick. [Resolved]
Home now, I checked and with the power switch flipped to off on my mini dock, plugging it into my laptop via the microusb port (NOT the full size port) I can get the correct serial port to show up when I run ls /dev/tty* The expansion dock should function the same way.
I'd try installing the driver again and see what happens, or maybe a different microusb cable. They're rare but I have a cable that doesn't transmit data, drove me nuts when I was trying to put some stuff on an old kindle. -
RE: Might have bricked my Omega2+, can't connect via serial
@Marty-Mickelson No worries, this is my first time working with this sort of thing too. I connected ground to ground, TX on the USB adapter to RX0 on the Arduino Dock 2, RX on the USB adapter to TX0 on the Arduino Dock 2. I didn't worry about the power pins at all. The Expansion Dock has GPIO ports for TX1/RX1, I don't know if they'll work for this but I can test when I get home.

RE: Omega 2+ USB Firmware Install after Brick. [Resolved]
@Marty-Mickelson With the expansion dock plugged in and the omega2+ running, could you take a screenshot or copy the output when you run the ls /dev/tty* command? Maybe the Omega2 is showing up as something unexpected.

RE: Cant connect
@Matthias-Baumgarten Here are the instructions for connecting via serial:
https://docs.onion.io/omega2-docs/connecting-to-the-omega-terminal.html#connecting-to-the-omega-terminal-serial
And here are the instructions for manually installing firmware:

RE: Omega 2+ USB Firmware Install after Brick. [Resolved]
Marty,
Try ls /dev/tty*, does that work? Also, what dock are you using? If expansion or mini dock it should be there, if you're on arduino or power the USB-Serial connection won't work. Here's my adventure with un-bricking my device using the arduino dock for reference:
http://community.onion.io/topic/1377/might-have-bricked-my-omega2-can-t-connect-via-serial/8
edit: try restarting your computer also, I think I had to do that before the driver worked. -
RE: [Resolved]Install Quality Terminal Emmulator
Don,
All you're going to get right now for the web Console interface is the default terminal app. The Console app isn't designed to be granular. If you want anything better, you might as well use PuTTY or something similar as you're already using an outside computer to access your device. I just ssh in on OSX's Terminal app and it does everything you listed and I'm pretty sure PuTTY can do the same.

RE: Might have bricked my Omega2+, can't connect via serial
Fixed! The usb-serial adapter linked above showed up today. Steps for those curious or who haven't done this before (like me :)):
- Plugged usb-serial adapter into Macbook Pro
- Installed the driver for the Omega2+ (already had this installed but for those who don't: https://docs.onion.io/omega2-docs/connecting-to-the-omega-terminal.html#connecting-to-the-omega-terminal-serial)
- Set up screen on OSX using Terminal (screen bash, screen /dev/tty.SLAB_USBtoUART 115200)
- Connected the adapter to the Arduino dock serial ports
- Plugged in power to Arduino dock w/ reset held
- Restored via usb drive (downloaded latest firmware from repo, named it omega2.bin, put on root of FAT32 formatted flash drive).
Thank you @WereCatf & @Zogg-Baubas for replying!

RE: Might have bricked my Omega2+, can't connect via serial
Great, ordered! Will be here on Monday. Thank you! Gonna take a break from these things for the weekend, submitted a ticket re: the mini dock's reset button not working as that seems to be pretty important.

RE: Might have bricked my Omega2+, can't connect via serial
Followed these instructions to get my pi3 set up to connect via serial:
https://hallard.me/enable-serial-port-on-raspberry-pi/
While the omega2 led would blink in extremely rapid fashion while connected to the TX/RX0 or TX/RX1 ports, it wouldn't connect, most of the time I got a 'port busy' or similar message from the pi terminal.Should I try ordering something like this?: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B014PBYER4
Hopefully I'm not just shouting into the void here, fingers crossed someone smarter than me in this community (there are many of you ) can help me figure this out.
