Looking forward to playing with node, also I wrote my own PHP app for a webcamera & babysitting the 3d printer, added in the GPIO library to turn LED strips so I could actually see what was going on at night when the office lights were off.
Can't wait to see what the console app version is like (and to see how much I can abuse it!).

PS. My webcamera has been running at 1280x720 for days (a logitech 310 or something) and while the Omega has got warm, it's been stable.

I've had one of my onions play up on my desk, while the other 2 were fine with the office wifi.
A serial connection is the way to go and a tip is when you first connect on the COM port (make sure the baud speed is 115200) is to bash a couple of keys in the terminal until you see the message "press enter to start...", then hit enter and tada! Other wise it just stays as a blank screen 
After that run "wifisetup" and follow the instructions.

Errr got into a flow and have also recorded:

Part 9 - PIR Sensor using the GPIO pins on your Onion Omega
I've sent them over to my video editor and I'll get them back in a couple of days.
And a heads up, as a "developer" you'll hate them 
They'll be too slow and they're meant for my kinda level of learning

What's missing?
For the mini projects, think of them as bricks to build a house. We have very few bricks right now!
Not sure if anyone else noticed the suggestion of "Arduino cloud compile (cross-compile your C/C++ code in the cloud & have your binary pushed to the Arduino automatically, wirelessly, remotely)" that one for me is a no-brainer.
It would allow current users (personal, professional & educational) of the popular Arduino* boards to port their existing projects over to a more powerful/flexible device.
My 2p anyway. What did you suggest?

Count me in too.
The sensors that I personally use and can remember of off the top of my head that rely on ADC are:
Thermistor (I use on radiators to trip fans)
Light resistors (for PIR activation)
Touch pad (or matrix grid pad with resistor network to use less pins, arduinos never have enough pins)
Rain sensor (on my roof), soil forks (in my lawns)
Potentiometer (multiple projects)
Motion sensor (garage door)
Sound sensor (detect smashes in the alarm system)
Pressure pads (wired in to floor mats)
Flame sensors (they're ADC right?! I forget!)
And the other one that I don't actually use, only played with, the hall effect sensors.
So yea, the onion without ADC capabilities is a tad limited.
Hmmm.... I think I've used a few sensors in my projects, I should really start publishing more of my Arduino code on GitHub.

I've tried and failed looking for a nudge in the right direction.
I'm not sure what the difference is between a "fileProvider.execCommand()" command and a "ubus.request()" is.

Probably a better idea to explain what I'm trying to do
I'd like to run an arbitrary shell command such as "ls /dev/ -l | grep 'mtd'" and be able process the results accordingly from within an app.
Also I see Polymer is being used, is this the full blown version and I assume we're able to extend using any of the off the shelf elements from https://elements.polymer-project.org/ ?

Also thinking aloud....
We could have a default timer, so that if the person isn't replied to within say 10 seconds, a random, pre-recorded message is played back to them.
The actual device could be ceiling mounted or not even mounted in the same room and use the standard doorbell & the length of the web camera cord to keep the main device safe. One of my bug-bears with the off-the-shelf doorbells, they look like they can easily be stolen!
