@fossette you da best, upping the power supply has done the trick thanks mate. Thought the Usb output might have been limited.

If you want to access the onion via usb you need to use putty or some other serial terminal. Have a look through this https://wiki.onion.io/Get-Started?

Onion Omega as wireless USB hub
Hi all,
Just putting this here in case it is of use to anyone else. I saw this link here for using the RPI as a wireless usb hub and saw that VirtualHere has a MIPS version. Tried it out and it works a treat with the omega, a lot cheaper than any commercial solution I have seen such as the Belkin Home Hub.

Routing for Omega access point
I have 2 Original Omega's, 1 is connected to the other as an access point. I wanted to try routing traffic from my PC to omega_A:
omega_A ----> omega_B ----> Wifi router/modem <----- PC
omega_A is 192.168.3.154 on omega_B AP network.
omega_B is 192.168.1.17 on wifi network
PC is 192.168.1.13 on wifi
I have added a route on my PC so that I can ping 192.168.3.1 (omega_B):Network Destination Netmask Gateway Interface 192.168.3.0 255.255.255.0 192.168.1.17 192.168.1.13 But Omega_B doesn't seem to be routing traffic to what's connected to it.
it's route table seems like it should...Destination Gateway Genmask Flags Metric Ref Use Iface 192.168.3.0 * 255.255.255.0 U 0 0 0 wlan0-1 Appreciate any thoughts anybody might have.

RE: Switching a large electrical load
Hi mate, out of curiosity is there a reason you have the compass behind your power wire?

RE: building a nas with the omega?
@Kit-Bishop said in building a nas with the omega?:
@Chris-McCaslin As a matter of interest, what software are you using on the Omega to implement the nas?

@Matthew-Hartsuch. Can confirm this works with a Usb hub.

Omega External Access
Hi All,
I have my own domain and hosting for a "company" website which I haven't really been using. Anyway I wanted to make the webcam attached to my omega accessable externally. I have added an A record that forwards to my home IP (I am with a provider that gives me a static IP). I also forwarded port 80 on my home modem to my omega. I can access the omega splash page fine and navigate to the webcam page but never get any images. Could it be that the 8080 port is conflicting with default external access?

RE: Execute commands via Onion cloud?
I would be interested in this as well, I did some digging and shellinabox is how the console is accessed from the device page locally. For example
omega--XXXX.local:4200
will fire up shellinabox in your browser. Seems like the cloud isn't working for me at the moment so will have to do some more digging later on. -

Logitecg C600 webcam
Hi All,
Trying to get the Logitech C600 working with the Mini dock. It is apparently a UVC device and I can see it under
lsusb
when plugging it in but nothing shows up under/dev/video
.dmesg
shows:[ 165.810000] usb 1-1: new high-speed USB device number 3 using ehci-platform
I'm thinking it might be a power issue perhaps as it apparently needs 500ma, couldn't find any specs on how much the mini dock provides.
Thanks in advance.

RE: Onion Omega as wireless USB hub
@Matthew-Hartsuch if you had a Usb hub I don't see why it wouldn't work. As for seeing devices from your phone I don't think this is possible as their Android app only acts as a server for Usb devices not a client.

RE: Onion Omega as wireless USB hub
@Matthew-Hartsuch if you edit the file /etc/rc.local with the following line ./root/vhusbdmips -b this will run it on startup. Note that I have the executable in /root
