Thank you, Douglas, but I think I found the problem.
The official advice is that the Omega2 Pro can be updated using the web page but my experience is that this just doesn't work. The best thing to do is to follow the 'sticky' advice above about upgrading the firmware via the command line:
opkg update
opkg upgrade oupgrade
oupgrade
This then get's the whole board working properly ( in an omega sort of way, lol )

I have just been installing a couple of small packages on the Omega2 Pro and instantly ran out of space. Is there a switch I should be using with opkg install to tell it to use the 7 gig on /dev/mmcblk0p1 or is there somewhere I can set this as the default?

I have a peculiar problem.
A couple of my onion omegas have booted up and show their wifi ssid's but they show as being unsecured, 'open' networks. When I try to connect to them, it fails.
Just wondered if anyone else has had this?
I'm going to connect via serial to try and figure it out further but as it's happened to a couple of mine I wondered if others have had this experience?

@Graham-Keellings Hi Graham, I have found that you can buy the same screen that onion are using in the OLED expansion and just plug it in directly yourself. I'm not sure how cheap you want but you can get them for 4.5 on Amazon and cheaper on Ebay eg here: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0746JRHSM/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1
You can address it just using the I2C connections and power from the Onion. I keep meaning to write a quick howto on it...
I did see someone else's page about this, that I should reference also.
I plugged it into a dock here when I was trying it out but it can connect just to the pins on the onion.
While on the conversation of making things cheaply, I have also had some adaptors printed in china to breakout the pin pitch size up from 2.00 to 2.54mm so that they are easier to stick into breadboards or stripboards etc. I think they cost about 24 pence each? Makes using the Onion much more affordable.
Again, I keep meaning to write up some how-to for all this too 
I haven't found the precise answer to my problem but I am happy I have the resources to sort it out myself now.

I've followed the omega tip from the 20th of Feb to push sensor date to AWS but each time I try any command on the onion I get an error saying "Connection refused"
Any ideas where I am going wrong or how I can troubleshoot it?

Apologies, I know this is an old thread but I have followed Paul Cousins instructions too and also have the "Connection refused" Error. I have tried to check that I have put the certificates over in a couple of different ways but as I am downloading them from Amazon to a mac and then uploading them to the onion, I'm not sure how I could be disturbing them.
I have looked for others having this problem and I don't see anyone so I'm really confused to know what I might be doing wrong.
Any chance you can say any more about why reinstalling the certificates worked for you?

@Patrick-Ryan I noticed in another thread that someone mentioned pagekite.py which seems to do exactly the same thing as remot3.it / weaved and is donation ware ( I donated, I think it's well worth it! ).

One of the nice features is that by exposing the omega's webserver you can then take advantage of the terminal app
I'm so chuffed to have found this, it really bridges the gap until onion hopefully bring terminal into their cloud app and the flexability of pagekite makes lots of other interesting things possible
