Power Consumption
-
@Sawyer-McBride Honestly right now we are still working on the technical parts of getting the Omega into and out of the hibernation mode. Once we can do that stably, we will look at different wake up mechanisms. What's the difference between the ones you've mentioned? WOL meaning wake on LAN?
-
@Boken-Lin Obvs WOL is normal Wake-On-LAN, the other is a wireless version but not seen it and not entirely sure how it works. Must have a tiny bootstrap that listens on an SSID
-
@Boken-Lin any news on the hibernate mode?
Without, Onion is a nonstarter for our battery operated use. With it, it would put the Onion right in the sweet spot
-
Also very interested in this. My use case requires the device to wake up every 15 mins, collect data, upload and go to sleep again. All on budget and with space constraints.

@Michal-Rok We will be looking into low-power mode for the Omega2! Stay tuned!
-
@Lazar-Demin Any update on this low power mode with onion?
-
@srikrishna-Acharya give them a bit more time ... they are very busy:
@Lazar-Demin said in The Onion App SDK is here!:
.... we've just got our hands very full with the campaign right now! But rest assured that it will be available as soon as it's ready, we never give up until our Onioneers get everything we promised them!
-
@Lazar-Demin I wanted to check in and see if any progress has been made on putting the Omega2 into a low power state and if so what its current consumption is in that state. Thanks.
-
@Lazar-Demin
I am another one very interested in low power consumption, including all sorts of sleep states, wakeup signals, wakeup times, etc, .Any information available?
-
I am also very interested in a low-power / hibernation mode. Any progress on this?
-
@Boken-Lin @Lazar-Demin Eighteen months is a long time to keep the faith without signs of progress. Is there anything you can share about the status of this commitment?

Same question

Another interested user?

It seems to have been months since the last update on sleep / hibernate mode for the omega2. I'm curious, how is everyone else is powering their devices? I can't imaging most people creating an IoT project and having to manually turn them on and off all the time or leaving them fixed to an outlet. I'll be honest I haven't done much with the omega2 for quite a while instead using esp8266 and other small devices that allow sleep.

Really necessary feature!
Probably it would be great to have scenario of lowering the speed (if possible) for reducing power consumption.
Or/and, at least, any hints, how to make it lower as possible in current state.
-
I'm interested in this also !
-
Any news on this topic?
-
I'm interested in a sleep mode as well.
Any progress?
-
Lining up... Sleep/hibernate with a schedule would be great.

looks like technically it is possible. https://labs.mediatek.com/en/chipset/MT7688 (datasheet, page 102)
Need to be implemented on kernel level.
