How to transfer files on Onion?
-
Hi,
I am struggling to find a way to transfer files from my PC to the Onion.
What is the recommended/easiest way?
My preferred options would be:
- Windows shared network folder
- (S)FTP - but I can find no client nor server for the Onion
Thanks in advance!

Hi, @Frederic-Baumann , I am assuming you are using Windows.
I use WinSCP (http://winscp.net/eng/index.php)
Set up a connection in WinSCP, so:- File Protocol: SCP
- Host Name: the IP address of your Omega - this is normally 192.168.3.1 - or at least it is for mine - you will need to check this
- User Name: root
- Password: onioneer - unless you have changed it from the default
Good luck

Thank you so much, it works!
Actually I will also transfer files from the Kubuntu VM where I cross-compile. Your answer also made find the "scp" command which works pretty fine as well from Linux.

@Frederic-Baumann From my Kubuntu VM, in Dolphin under Network -> Add Network Folder I have created an FTP connection to my Omega: ftp://root@192.168.3.1:21/ and can just copy and paste files to/from it

Done, works great too! Thanks for the tip

MobaXterm is pretty sweet for that in fact you can open scripts files within MobaXterm edit them using default text editor then save and with out ever moving the file. For xfering files you can drag them from the window of your desktop to the folder/dir of your choice on the Omega within MobaXterm.

WinSCP is great but I am on a mac and tired to use Bootcamp (to boot windows)
So I use Wine https://www.winehq.org/
Not realy fancy
∂…ÒSo I try Interarchy https://nolobe.com/interarchy/
Worked great on my old openWrt Piratebox.
Here is not, I try to connect with (doesnt work)
root@192.168.3.1:21 (scp/ftp)If some body here have a mac....
Yes, I should go to linux.
