Is a Mini Dock expansion still a possibility?

I saw this thread on a possible expansion for the Mini Dock and got really excited because it is exactly what I am looking for. Does anyone know if this is something that still might be released?

@Ken-Conrad That's really cool and while not quite what I was looking for I might end up getting it. I was hoping for something that I could just sandwich between my Mini Dock and Omega.

Also, for my inquisitiveness, why do you want something that would sandwich between the Omega and the mini dock? The alternatives referenced do pretty well all that the mini dock does while exposing access to the GPIO etc. pins

@Kit-Bishop I am definitely interested in the alternatives and will probably end up trying one of those. I guess I just don't want my mini dock to go to waste ¯\(ツ)/¯
