Omega2 WiFi SSD doesn’t show up
-
I have Omega2. I had been able to see the WiFi SSD and connect to the device before I attempted to upgrade the firmware. However, the SSD doesn’t show up anymore and I cannot connect to the device. Did anyone have this problem? What should I do?
-
@mandroid which firmware version are you using
-
@crispyoz, I have no idea. I purchased the device when it was first released and didn't upgrade the firmware. I cannot access the device via Wifi so I cannot tell you which firmware is on it.
-
@mandroid The first thing I would do is do a factory reset to see if that solves the problem. You didn't mention if you have a dock but I will assume you do so just follow the factory reset procedure here:
https://docs.onion.io/omega2-docs/factory-reset.html
If that doesn't fix your issue then the next step would be to use the recovery process. Connect to the device using the serial console:
Download the latest firmware from here:
http://repo.onion.io/omega2/images/
Then follow the recovery process to load the new firmware image from USB:
https://docs.onion.io/omega2-docs/Firmware-Flashing-from-USB-storage.html
If you get stuck just post here and we can help you.

@crispyoz , I was able make the WiFi SSD of the Omage2+ show up somehow after login to the device through serial. I have run wifimanager and enabled the wifi. I am not sure this is what resolved the issue but it was one of few things I have tried.
However, I have a different issue now. I cannot connect the device to my wifi with Omega2 Setup Wizard. It would say "Unable to connect to SSD_name. Please try again" on the web and I see following in the terminal having the devices connected via serial. Is there something I am doing wrong?

@mandroid have you updated to the latest firmware?
-
@crispyoz I'm afraid the answer is: No.
I think the above is a "very informative" log fragment of a fairly old Omega2 FW (with Mediatek WiFi driver) with OP's tricky conundrum:[ 608.336487] !!! APCLI LINK UP - IF(apcli0) AuthMode(7)=WPA2PSK, WepStatus(6)=AES!
ie. OP's Omega2 successfully connected to some WiFi device.
Who can figure it out what can be it?
-
@György-Farkas yes of course. My point was that it makes no sense to troubleshoot an issue on such an old version of the firmware since the majority of the issues have already been resolved. If he has trouble performing the update let's focus on troubleshooting that.
-
@crispyoz, I was able to update the firmware to Ω-ware: 0.3.2 b237 and make the device connected to the internet. Thank you very much for your help.

That's great news @mandroid, congrats!
