(wild guess and a long shot. I am running omega on a mini-dock, could it behave differently if I was on expansion-dock, since these peripherals are for the expansion dock?)

As a workaround I downloaded pyOledExp package manually from http://repo.onion.io/omega/
and installed it with opkg install. I had to also download the pyOmegaExpansion that is a dependency, but the trick was done and I can now use the libraries on my python scripts

To Guest(whoever you are), I do not see a luci package in the onion repo

is there an easy way to install the python-netifaces on the omega?
I tried building it from source found here https://pypi.python.org/pypi/netifaces but I do not think it is possible.

I get the following error
unable to execute 'ccache_cc': No such file or directory
error: command 'ccache_cc' failed with exit status 1

is there a way to use opkg to install it?

+1 on more categories, like this it gets difficult to find old threads.
I was thinking on a way to categorize in 2 dimensions. One dimension would be the "what you want to do" and the second would be the "what language you use". This way you can search information on "your future project" and instantly know what languages and tools you have to use, or the other way search for things in your preferred language and see what can be done or has been done in the past. Tags on the posts could be used for that.

Also the wiki is getting better and helps a lot. Maybe the community could help on creating more tutorials and how-to documents. I think it would be nice to have a vice-versa connection from the community forums to the wiki but I have not given it thorough thought yet. What if you were reading a tutorial and you could get suggestions on relevant community topics/threads. If I come up with a more specific idea I will post it.

If you have downloaded the package.ipk you can install it using

I have upgraded my Omega to the latest firmware
Ω-ware: 0.1.2 b327 is shown on top of the screen window

and I am trying to install the pyOledExp package, so I am doing
opkg update (everything seems ok here)
opkg install pyOledExp (from this line I get the following error)

Unknown package 'pyOledExp'.
Collected errors:

• opkg_install_cmd: Cannot install package pyOledExp.

opkg list | grep -i pyOledExp returns nothing
The same happens for pyOnionI2C

What am I doing wrong? Please help

sorry It took me so long to answer.
Yes I have already thought about doing it this way and it works!

What bothers me though, is that if you change it to GPIO and then use fast-gpio script on the linux console, it does light the amber led wihtout changing the trigger to default-on, so I think there is a hidden file somewhere that controls the gpio of the amber led if the trigger is set to gpio

I was trying to set the value of GPIO 27 (amber led) through python and did not find out how.

I am able to turn "/sys/class/leds/onion:amber:system/trigger" to "gpio" but then I do not know what file holds the pin value so I can change it accordingly.
"/sys/class/gpio/gpio$/value" seems to work for other pins but not 27

Can you help?
