RE: how to install node red nodes for omega
Hi,
Never mind my previous reply I will see if I can get those going in node-red

RE: gps receiver not locking
@Costas-Costas true, but in their defence i had a soldering bridge on my omega2+ they have promised to send me a replacement on my ticket for that issue. So went ahead and fixed it and it is working fine now. Replacement not yet here though..

RE: gps receiver not locking
Personally after reading the description several times i believe its the red encirceld capacitor which needs to be desoldered.. might just give it a go regardless since the expansion is useless currently anyway...

RE: gps receiver not locking
@Ian-Marchant Maybe someone from @administrators can put a picture with a circle around the right capacitor on here, I also asked this on my running ticket.
your right the description in that message is somewhat unclear

RE: gps receiver not locking
@Ian-Marchant That's interesting I think I know which component is meant but desoldering an SMD type capacitor is not something I would love to do without the proper tools ie soldering equipment... If they promise me on my ticket, which I opened for this isse(no updates what so ever till now...), to send me a replacement I might just go for it. If I do I will let you know the results.

RE: gps receiver not locking
@Ian-Marchant Yes agreed it might very well be a faulty antenna or just the antenna being quite small. I don't have an external antenna lying around unfortunately but will try experiment with one, once I find one Ow well experimentation can be fun !

RE: gps receiver not locking
Hmm
Well same problem here, on the Omega2+ I am not able to get a gps fix at all doesnt matter where i put the gps expansion... Same problem with the program under windows.
So also wondering if I might have a faulty gps expansion as well... Had to go through hoops and hurdles to get the Omega2+ going as, bad soldering which had to be removed but now that is at least working.

RE: Very happy! Omega2p Reading tweets through Node-Red :-)
@Brad-Buskey said in Very happy! Omega2p Reading tweets through Node-Red :
@Leo-de-Blaauw I got it. I will be putting the project up in a bit. Ended up cheating and using SH and Python.
Cool stuff !

RE: Very happy! Omega2p Reading tweets through Node-Red :-)
@Brad-Buskey Darn seems my GPS Expansion is working just fine but can't for the life of it get a fix inside my house. Used extension cables and moved it close to windows etc etc no fix..
Will keep tryin Brad and there should be any reason you couldnt get the output of: ubus call gps info into Node-Red using an Exec node.
Give it a try Once I get a fix that will be route I will take unless someone comes up with a script library/api which is callable directly from Node-Red.

RE: Omega 2s not working with Mini Dock serial terminal connection?
@Ken-Conrad well the reset works on my mini Dock since firmware 1.9 so you might want to give that a try.
As far as the serial output to a terminal is concerned. On mine it will show the bootup sequence just fine through mobaxterm but only that..after that nothing and i have to access mine through ssh..

RE: Very happy! Omega2p Reading tweets through Node-Red :-)
Hi Brad,
Well just reading through: https://docs.onion.io/omega2-docs/using-gps-expansion.html#using-gps-expansion Reading through that it would be fairly simple to use an exec node for displaying the gps info as well. Luck has it I have a GPS expansion as well but was taking the one step at a time aproach so haven't even unpackaged it yet Let me give that a go and will let you know via this thread if I succeeded
Below are the contents of my Template and Exec nodes for your information so you might even get the gps info on the OLed before I do
Tweet Template Node:
Tweet Exec Node:
So I am basically just using the Template node to setup the command line for oled-exp commandline tool to write out to the Oled.

RE: Very happy! Omega2p Reading tweets through Node-Red :-)
For those interested here is the (simple) node-red flow, just using a template and exec node

Ha,
Lazy Sunday? No such thing! Got Node-Red running great now on the Omega2+ reading tweets

RE: Node-Red running but lots out of memory segmentation faults
Well,
After some experimentation:
root@Omega-BF4F:/usr/bin/onion-node-red/node_modules/node-red# node --max_old_space_size=768 red.js
Seems to do the trick just fine, allthough i find it somewhat weird that node.js is not able to alocate the memory from the box but ow well

RE: More system disk space using pivot-overlay (and pivot-root) on the Omega2
@Kit-Bishop true found swapon in usr/sbin eventually and working fine now. Now if node-red wouldnt give me memory segmentation errors i would be truly happy...

RE: SWAPON command doesn't exist in any packages
@Shanan-Clark actually on mine it is present in /usr/sbin... firmware 1.9

Node-Red running but lots out of memory segmentation faults
Hi all,
Well after getting the WiFi to work, getting the SDCard working, getting pivot-root working and finally setting up a 1024mb swap space and got that working, i managed to get Node-Red up and running just fine.
Unfortunately it gives lots of memory segmentation errors exiting offcourse..
Any help, hints or tips greatly appreciated.

RE: More system disk space using pivot-overlay (and pivot-root) on the Omega2
actually install block-mount won't work anymore omega2, firmware 1.9 will just report not installing just use sbin/block instead...
Ok, so is there any other way to get my hands on swapon ?

Leo
