Get rid of LEDE r2988-d5e48ee and transfer a new image to Omega2+
It is long since i worked with my omega2+ . Would like transfer a newer image to the onion and do a factory reset to start over.
I do have the EXP DOCK and use the Ethernet module. I went trough de Technical FAQs section and not got what i looked for.
the image section i found again (http://repo.onioniot.com/omega2/images/) and i do belief the omega2p-v0.3.2-b244.bin is what i looking for?
Just missing the instructions how to bring the image to the omega2+ that i can do the factory reset.thx in advance for hints , links and nice words

Your forum has been offline for a few days, but there is no information what is going on.
https://community.onion.io/topic/2071/community-is-back-online
at least a note what happened would be nice anyway. This ticket simply got closed without any kind of reply.
Even if the onioneers promised not to do so anymore it looks like they still do it. (buuu)
Is the project practically dead now? I see only marketing related updates on the website...

power-dock application is a binary rather than a python script, but maybe the source code for it is available somewhere?

@luz
There's no need to say sorry. We all know well it was a simple 'Oops!' situation.Exactly that's what i was thinking too... sorry have to say those, who make an open-source project halfway closed source and start every year a new kick-starter campaign that they can say sorry ... kkkk

Since when is trying to improve a Beta version of something, 'bitching'??
Of course it is a good thing to improve a beta version. Just in this case of the Onion project it is also a waist of time to do so.
In a good working Open-source community you get access to the full source code and the Project owner generally work hard with the community together.
The forum here is basically community driven and the majority wants to help quickly not loosing a lot of time. That's why you got the advice to solve problem in Terminal.
p.s
did you get a try on the chrome browser? Or better if you are a Opera Fan you could try vivaldi. -
RE: Unable to successfully change password...
@Futsking-Futsker , to check if it is a bug you need to tell the firmware version you use ... both of you.

RE: no wifi
@Kegan-Brauning , isent there still the option to install a firmware from the USB-Penndrive?

Ragazzo, sei ubriaco! Not really, I just answered you the same way as you answered in your second post!
@Papy-Muzo said in Omega2, yet another dud.:
Just some "bla-bla's" like yours above.
As the owner of the request asked for commands to investigate his problem you should give him the chance to do do so and let him give feedback here.
Now he has 3 Options:
-
Using as it is and find out the disconnection (I'm almost sure it is just a power issue)
-
The LEDE image.
-
The Ethernet Dock, thx to point this out ... but let him decide if it suits to his needs.

RE: wifi disconnect
@Papy-Muzo it is not just that what i quoted ... i did read all your request ... and four are not a lot ... sorry
(p.s. 5 in the meantime ... and just blabla)

RE: Streaming live video to the internet?
@john-canning , first of all check if you see the cam with the
lsusb
command in the terminal (connect/disconnect while doing the command several time) . If you can see it, try to access the Omega over the Webinterface and there you should find the Cam app (at least in omega1 it was so).If you see some pictures you have a working driver. If not, you better forget it. Sorry being so direct, but as I'm a while here and tell you from reading here, it will be frustrating to find drivers. It is not like windows in linux. Normally you have driver support over the Kernel or you don't have.
Try to upgrade the kernel verion is an alternative but not really the simplest task for a beginner.
Then you better buy a RaspberryPi with a working cam. -
RE: wifi disconnect
@Papy-Muzo said in wifi disconnect:
I guess he's referring to the Ethernet-port expansion "https://onion.io/store/ethernet-expansion/".
Please stop to guess. I was referring to my experience i made with Omega in general. With the omega1 series i remember it was possible. When then the Hardware changes you better not should crucify the community members who answer you. And there are still the LEDE Images where offer a alternative driver (i propose to read a bit more members request/answers especially those as @luz and some who have more than 12 month of membership).
Remembering you, that we also had disappointment somehow (hardware/missing info's) and specially with new once who just come complaining , if you not give a report of your situation (OS version, what you already tried and most important not offend in your first requests) you might will find some willing persons to answer you!
So, don't be silly and cut your last branch of support off

RE: wifi disconnect
First of all, for an investigation you and we need facts. So versions of your OS and some more info about your config would be great.
I propose read request where users solved with success their WIFI problem. Here an example:
http://community.onion.io/topic/1149/omega2-fails-to-connect-to-wifi/30To debug you need the Terminal (linux & OSx) and commands as
ping
andtraceroute
to see if device is online and over which device you are connected. Windows users useping
andtracert
instead. On a mobile device you install best a WIFI scanner and check the Chanel settings. If needed deactivate on omega AP mode and just use the fix connection over you Internet box. Important is that you use fix channel settings instead of auto. So you have control over the channels and you can avoid wifi interference with other devices.
You should not compare pears with apples ... omega and raspberry are not in the same class of quality.
@onion sorry to say that ... raspberrypi.org is a much bigger community and also playing better the FOSS rules.

RE: The best place for the Onion Omega is the trash!!! Never again!
Thats why they may use onion as their brand name ... you just get tears if you work with it.

OpenWRT and LEDE agree on Linux-for-routers peace plan
https://www.theregister.co.uk/2017/05/10/openwrt_and_lede_peace_plan/
Just hope, that this changes are soon visible in a working firmware for the Onion Omegas.
