I had some difficulties with Linux/Firefox. The Messages are displaying on the top right corner and hide the menu. So "Add Setup Code" was not reachable.

A other issue I have when i click with Linux/Chrome on the my devices cloud (on the right half of the blue cloud) when I'm online. I get the "new device" dialogue, instead of "my device" opened.

I read that some people had difficulties to follow the instructions the onioners made (incl. the blue bullet infos). So here are my view steps I made to add a device. Hope it helps newbies.

To add a Device:

Before you start to use the cloud, please update your device, that you have the full functionality of it.

1. Connect to the cloud.onion.io preferably with Google Chrome.
2. Navigate to the "Device Manager"
3. Click on "add Device".
4. Add name and comment for the Device.
5. Save the information to Create this device.
6. Click on the Device again, and click on "Setup Code" on right top corner.
7. Navigate to the Omega (local address) and open the "Settings" Icon.
8. On the left side click on "Cloud Settings" (just visible with newest firmware).
9. Add your setup-code in the field, you copied before in the Clipboard, and save it.
   9.1) If you get wrong Setup Code, refresh cloud.onion.io navigate to the "Device Manager" again, refresh the "Device Secret".
   Re-open "Setup Code" and copy and paste the new one locally, and save it.
10. Your done if you see the "Device ID" & Secret displayed.

A good way to start is to klick on the question mark (?) on the top right corner of the compose window (see attached image). There you get the daringfireball website with a lot of explanations.

So far so good....

For the back-tick key (the single quote key is not the same and not works) I had some trouble to find it. I use a non US keyboard with a Brazilian layout. On the keyboard itself it has two back ticks. but just one is working. The first shows up under the Esc key and should work just with a "US layout"

On the Brazilian Keyboard layout it is localized on a key with the forward- & back-tick together. In a combination of a other letter they appear when kicking first on it and then the letter à è ì ò ù etc.

For the markdown it is needed without a letter and i have to press it twice & shift ore once & shift and followed by a space ! on my Brazilian layout.

If you have a Windows operating-system you should be able to turn on the Num Lock key and press Alt & 96 on the numeric bloc to get a back-tick symbol. If there are more symbols needet as one, this could be solved with Ctrl & c then Ctrl & v

Linux and OSx should have also such Alt key alternatives, but i could not find it out jet or at least on my Linux Mint it is not working.

Now as we discussed some basics we can color up our request with the markdown as the a lot of members already do.

For the omega1 was it so, that you had first to config the lan (adapter) and then give access over the firewall to use the wifi & lan.

In your case it looks like that you just have to activate lan (Ethernet Dock) and deactivate the wlan (putting # in front of Statements) in /etc/config/wireless.

As long as you not give access between wlan & normal lan, i guess you not have to be worried. On lan you best use Static IP Adress ... so DHCP must be deactivated.

About the firewall you have to check out the document how to use omega as Router.

I would check such things first. And also as you wrote it is about a lot of work ... i guess you are true ... thats why i not would do it alone ... do it on github as a collaboration.

I found some interesting articles by googling:

The first article shows the problematic of charging a battery with power loss because of wrong diameter of the cable who transmits the power.

The second article mentions beside power loss, side effects of missing isolation.

My conclusion:
Shorter cable are better when they have the right diameter and isolation (inside). Mine (charging cable from my new galaxy tablet) works fine now but makes noise in the speakers. Apparently captures the WIFI signal and transmits it to the USB Bus.

@administrators, might be a good idea to do some tests in the Lab with a maximum of extensions connected. But especially when you start to sell the battery extensions, that they transmit enough energy to load them correct. Probably add one to the online shop could avoid a lot a headache for you

@Guest you have to be more attentive. If you went trough the tutorial 5 or 6 times you have to go trough again and do what is written there.

For example, in your ifconfig from the Omega, you have a br-lan. In the tutorial i dont see a br-lan?! You have to be consequent with the naming. Otherwise it will never work.
Why not? Because you named the lan "br-lan" and in the config of the Firewall it is named just "lan" !! Find the config file on the Omega and change it to the name as in the tutorial.

Yes learning by doing is a good way to get further. But keep in mind that almost everyone is helping here for free and this without an obligation. So, for missing knowledge you have to give your self more time and should not force to much.

There are requests here with a list of Webcams who are working with the omega.

@Lukas-Zeller , when you already now everything better, why the heck you do not start your own IoT project ala "swiss made" and make it better? It is really cheep to sit on a others neck and even accuse them to fooling the customers.

And about the agreement you mentioned in your next request, i think it is also not the right way to find it out this way, posting in the forum your doubt. You better enter in contact with the onioners direct and ask them what they need, resp. how you could help them to resolve the question to publish the "Schematics" as you believe it should be!

This way you just make "bad mood", instead to help to bring the project ahead.

My version of a "cheap, easy case for Omega and mini dock"
is ginger flavored and round as a Omega

The candy boxes lid can be turned and so i get control of heat
and the LED on the Onion.

A good "Swiss Army Knife" is doing the job for punching the holes
for miniUSB & USB.

Still additional space to store some "smal silica gel bag" if it gets to humid here.
If i let it run permanently i will probably have no
problem with the humidity because of getting warm.

My momentanious setup is with a 16GB penndrive.
I will might do some Apache stuff.
Some additional memory will always be welcome

That is what i was reading about the length & thickness of the USB cables. This is quite a poker game if there are just cheep lousy cables around.
