USB Hub Controller IC

  • We´re searching for an alternative USB Hub Controller IC with at least 3 ports which is compatible with the Omega2s. In the Omega Hardware Design Guide the GL850G-OHY37 is used, but this one is old and difficult to obtain. Any ideas or reference designs would be nice.

    Thx in advance.

    Hi @DocHardinger
It looks like the GL850G-OHY37 model we recommend in the hardware design guide is now EOL.

We recommend looking into the newer Genesys GL850G and GL852G lines, with the latest models being the GL850G-xxY60 and GL852G-xxY60, such as GL852G-OHY60 (QFN-28) and GL850G-HHY60 (SSOP-28).

Here is the key difference between the GL850G and GL852G lines:

We'll look into updating the hw design guide.
    Hope this helps!

  • @Lazar-Demin yes this helps thx. But we're thinking about using the USB2514B-I/M2 from Microchip do you think there will be problems with this chip and the omega?

And yes a new hardware guide would be really helpful.

@DocHardinger Haven't tried that once specifically, but I can't think of any reason a USB 2.0 Hub won't work with the Omega. That is, as long as it's used in the design as intended by the manufacturer.

Let us know how it goes!
