opkg doesn't work - server down?
-
When executing 'opkg update' on a terminal my omega is trying to download http://downloads.openwrt.org/chaos_calmer/15.05/ar71xx/generic/packages/base/Packages.gz.
Unfortunately the site seems to be down (at least since yesterday), so it's unable to succeed. Am I doing anything wrong? Is anyone else experiencing the same issue with opkg? is there a workaround (e.g. alternative URL)?

Unless it is a problem with your internet access in general, should be all OK - I just tried an opkg update and http://downloads.openwrt.org/chaos_calmer/15.05/ar71xx/generic/packages/base/Packages.gz access was all fine.
Also, using browser to access site at http://downloads.openwrt.org/chaos_calmer/15.05/ar71xx/generic/packages/base lists Packages.gz amongst the available files.
So I guess it was just a temporary problem.

@Kit-Bishop it looks like that i do have troubles too to open the link. It looks like that you from NZ can reach it. From the south American continent it seams not to work. Could you check on the openwrt site what is wrong? I cant access it.
@Peter-Harrald from witch continent do you try to download? Ping gives now answer (PING downloads.openwrt.org (78.24.191.177)).

@Luciano-S @Peter-Harrald Ok - looks like OpenWrt is having some access problems. 40 minutes ago I had no problem doing an opkg update and could access http://downloads.openwrt.org in a browser without any problem. Now, none of them work.
I guess we willjust have to wait till OpenWrt sort out their problems.

I made a script to check so that it doesn't hang:
