@Douglas-Kryder It should definitely work as both are pin compatible.
I recently created an expansion for my Onion Omega 2 with the help from the community. I am selling extra board through Tindie. You can buy it from here. Also, the design files are available on GitHub. Will update the BOM list soon.
For Onion Community members use GET10ONION to get 10% off. Only for first two members.
And it is live. More details coming soon.
Just finished v0.1. Let me know what you guys think:
Board dimension: 57mm X 39mm.
@György-Farkas I am having both USB Male A and Micro USB for serial console. User can select any one port through SMD solder jumper. I am trying to make the board more flexible so that the user can use it for multiple purposes. Like,
I am still thinking about the omega USB host port. Will update here regularly.
I am worried if the current size (60mm X 50mm) will put too much pressure on the USB Male A connector . Any idea how much Omega 2 weighs?
@ccs-hello Thanks a lot for the advice. So I should connect the common pin of the RGB LED to the Vcc and the individual pins to the omega-2 gpios, right?
@György-Farkas Thanks. The male USB A is not connected to the Omega 2 D+ and D- rather it is connected to the CH340G (the USB to serial converter).
Hello Good People,
I have received 3 Omega 2 recently, I am planning to create my own custom dock.
Here are my target features:
I need feedback on the schematic whether the connections I have made is correct or not.
(The Board is work in progress!)
Let me know if I have missed out anything. Will share the schematic and board in GitHub once it is done.
I am planning to create my own custom dock. Instead of CP2102 USB to serial converter, I am planning to user CH340G which is easy to solder. For power supply, I am planning to user AMS1117 since I assume that Omega2 does not require more than 300mA. I notice that in the schematic, the voltage divider is used between PC_TXD and RXD. Is it to reduce the 5V to 3.3V? I am planning to use CH340G with 3.3V power supply. Something like this. If do so, should I use the voltage divider network? I assume that I don't have to use. Will post the schematic for the review once I complete.
What is the minimum power requirement for onion omega?
I ordered two days back from Indiegogo. Will it get shipped?
