Cannot connect to "omega-xxxx.local" after successful setup! [Solved-ish]
-
So I just got my Omega2+ and ran the setup wizard successfully; I was able to login fine and everything was working. Then I tried changing the username/password and stuff stopped working.
It asked me to sign in again but kept saying that I had the incorrect username/password, tried everything I could think of from carefully typing the new credentials to trying the defaults but nothing worked. Nothing was working so I decided to restart the Omega to see if that would change anything.
Now when I try to connect the omega-xxxx.local Chrome gives me the error "server DNS address could not be found." Any idea of what I can do?

Try logging in using the internal IP address (e.g. 192.168.0.xx) on your wifi network.
Regarding the password, did you try the old one? I changed my password but it didn't update and only the default one works.

Thanks @Steve-Smythe, that worked! There must be something wrong with the password setting because only the old stuff works ĀÆ\_(ć)_/ĀÆ "omega-xxxx.local" still doesn't work but I'll just use the internal IP address like you said.
Thanks!

@iLikePieTM This same problem occurred some time ago on the Original Omega1 - I even submitted a patch for the password not getting updated issue.
I haveNEVER
been able to connect usingomega-XXXX.local
and always use the IP address
I would have hoped that these issues would be resolved by now

@WereCatf Yes, that's probably it - I am on Windows. Tried using Bonjour but got fed up with repeated prompts to update to Apple things I don't want. Happy to persist with using IP address

Oh, I know the feeling! That's the reason I haven't touched Bonjour for the last 7 years or so!

@WereCatf @Kit-Bishop Seems that Microsoft has implemented mDNS/dns-sd in Windows 10, see this stack overflow answer (and the link to MSDN).
So making a tool to browse for Omega2 should now be as simple as it has been for years on macOS (Bonjour) and Linux (Avahi).
I agree though that installing the clunkiest app existing in macOS (iTunes) on Windows, just to get mDNS, is not worth the trouble
