Updating to latest firmware reset my device!!
-
To play with the Onion cloud, I updated my firmware to 0.1.1 as advised in the post, using the Omega web console. It was supposed to take 3 minutes, but never finished. Finally I had to power down and up my Omega to get it out of its hung state. When it rebooted, I discovered that it was totally wiped. I'd installed python, which was now uninstalled. And I'd written my first program too (about 5 hours worth of work), which is now gone too. Is this expected behavior when installing a firmware update?

@Dave-Abouav Not sure why your Omega should have hung (I had no similar problem with the update) however the fact that your system was wiped out is effectively a feature of the upgrade process which effectively replaces the set up with the new code.
There are some hints on preserving stuff over an upgrade that can be found at a reply I just made to another post - see https://community.onion.io/topic/736/problem-to-upgrade-my-exroot-with-pivot-root-to-latest-firmware-version-0-1-1/3 - especially the bit about/etc/sysupgrade.conf

@Dave-Abouav Which firmware were you previously on? At around 0.0.6 we built in functionality so that files from
/root
would be preserved after a firmware update.

@Luciano-S. Yep, it's in the Documentation section of the Wiki: https://wiki.onion.io/Documentation/Firmware-Changelog
It's now also mentioned on the Wiki Homepage
