omega2 plus sdcard not working

  • Baddies released a new firmware-upgrade with kernel version 4.4.39, but the microSD-slot still ain't working.

  • Hello I upgrade the firmware to Repo Firmware Version: 0.1.6 b137.
    SD-Card still not working.

    Error:

[ 283.843931] mmc0: new high speed SDHC card at address aaaa
[ 283.849876] mmcblk: probe of mmc0:aaaa failed with error -28

  • I has installed last firmware 0.1.7 but the sdcard not work.
    Why?
Onion support write me not back of my mail..

  • The problem still exists.

  • up at b140 - issue still exists.

  • Well, i just got my Omega 2 +, its on the latest Firmware and it still does not work .__.

We're working on it! It's not a trivial fix unfortunately. Please stay tuned, we'll update you guys when the fix is available.

Oh and @WereCatf, you're gonna hurt our feelings! We're working really hard to make the Omega the best it can be! (We'll look into configfs)

I'm not trying to hurt anyone's feelings, I just don't always control too well what I say. I just wish you would enable the necessary kernel-config options for device-tree overlays, as that wouldn't really increase the kernel's size much, but dt-overlays are a nice, handy way of configuring peripherals on-the-fly. Oh, and please do fix the reset-button in your device-tree -- I mention it in an another thread, but you've configured it as active LOW, whereas it's actually active HIGH, and that's why it's not working. It works fine in my own, custom dt, where I made this change.

  • @Lazar-Demin

Hi Lazar ...would you please push the Omega2 patches to github?
And please push the bootloader as well.

  • @Lazar-Demin Perhaps adding a KNOWN ISSUES page before the GETTING STARTED page in the docs would reassure people not to waste time on some Omega2 features as they will be fixed/setup/configured momentarily.

If you would be so kind as to push the code...then WE can ALL work on it šŸ™‚

  • +1. Tried a 64GB sd card in Omega2+. I did update the firmware during setup on 5th Jan 2017.

  • @WereCatf said in omega2 plus sdcard not working:

Well, it appears that the issue wasn't what I thought, so I still don't know what is causing this. The microSD-slot works fine with my own, custom build of LEDE with kernel 4.4.39.

What kernel config did you use? LEDE default?

Also, how do I install a custom built kernel?

  • @Mikael-Djurfeldt You don't. My images use different WiFi-driver than Onion's, so any of the Onion's tools that refer to the blob-driver would stop working or do weird things, and you'd have wrong kernel-modules anyways -- they must match the running kernel.

  • @WereCatf It would be nice to have workflow and tools for preparing a firmware image, Onion or LEDE.

  • @Mikael-Djurfeldt Yes, that'd be great. The "custom" lede repo at github, that is used for OmegaOS, does not include .config file for kernel config. It is too easy to build an image that'll brick the omega. Someone more knowledgeable about build process could share info here, or we could setup wiki at wikia, and put all the info there. I'd help as much as I can.

  • @Mikael-Djurfeldt I am planning to work on my custom-image and I did think about writing a terse how-to, but that's gonna take a couple of days.

  • I have the same issue, any update on the firmware?

  • @WereCatf Please do write. Share kernel's .config file too. šŸ™‚

  • @WereCatf Please šŸ™‚ But take your time šŸ™‚
