@kamiloade my first suspicion is that it is writing to the same file for both cameras, do you know where the files are being written? Or otherwise the two cameras are trying to create files/temp file that do exceed the device capacity. Have you looked at where these files are being written?

@Anil-Kulkarni another thing to check out is it does not seem to be registering as uvc [usb video class] most likely because omega2 has no driver and neither does that camera. that is a playstation 3 camera which does not have onboard driver for window or linux so usually you need to install one. if you can find cheese and install that it probably might then have a driver which will recognize that camera a a video device. if not cheese then do a search for other video packages. there is another called vlc that might have a package , i don't know. you could always go to openwrt website and do search on video packages. edit: also you might save time if you just search google. took me 3 minutes to find this and although it's old it still may help you. there are others, btw, but i already used about 10 min. so time to move on. good luck. http://blog.10100111001.com/2009/02/playstation-3-eye-web-cam-working-on.html

Thanks for all the feedback in this thread. Based on all of this info, I've concluded that my project is just not economically feasible given the complexities with providing adequate power to 2 onion devices simultaneously. I was hoping to build some kind of audio/video based home monitoring system (using 2 different onion devices -- one w/ a camera, and the other having a USB speaker attached) .. and so far I've calculated an absurd cost of just under $200.00, -- without any kind of enclosure, or guaranteed reliability. Yes, I've already started looking at webcams (on Amazon), and definitely found a few that have built in microphones. I was just hoping to hear from someone who can confirm that they've already tried it and that it does in fact work. What about connecting 2 different USB devices to the Onion (ie: a webcam + audio device)? Does anyone here know of some kind of USB splitter or hub that doesn't require an external power source? -- Yvan

I did the command dmesg, and I read the whole log, and I didn't have uvcvideo: Found UVC 1.00 device USB 2.0 PC Cam (5149: 13d3) input: USB 2.0 PC Cam as /devices/platform/101c0000.ehci/usb1/1-1/1-1:1.0/input/input0 like @CAP-33 (or something similar). So I assume that my webcam is not detected by the system, it was probably the problem! So I will take another. Thank you again

@Sebastien-Thiry Seems like the version of motion you are using does not support direct video output . A simple workaround is to let motion output image series and then use ffmpeg to compile the images into a video afterwards. @Victor-Tagayun see https://community.onion.io/topic/3526/omega-remote-access-with-dataplicity-with-wormhole It gives the console access from the internet so the native webcam app works. PS just tried an SQ 11 mini DV cam on the USB, works fine.

@Abdul-Majid-0 make sure that you get a webcam that works with the omega2. do a search of the forum and the 2 bullet tuesday write-ups that onion does. or search google for wecam & omega2

I also have the need for this. Would like to setup webcam as a security camera that I want to be able to view from anywhere when I'm not home. But I have searched long and far and can't find any help regarding this.

Revised the code to the following: It runs without generating the previous errors, but the results show more trouble shooting is necessary: There are *.jpg two files that are now in the directory after the program ran, and the new file(s) should be an *.mp4: Now, working on to see what is causing it.

@Paul-Cousins What method do you use to store the images on your Omega? Trying to setup the MicroSD card to store them or maybe post them to a server.

Taking it to the next level: This is my travelling demo unit I am working on. I added a Pi driven touch screen to the mix to allow for operator interaction with mysql in the onion via the onion AP, access control granted via a nifty little serial fingerprint scanner (can run on either pi or onion), barcode scanner and a little "closed loop machine demo" which contains 2 servo's and a microswitch that I still need to complete. It's come a long way since the veroboard prototype days!
